Planning the work
Repainting between occupants
An empty room on a calendar is not yet a decorating programme. A useful changeover plan identifies the condition, what will be painted, the time the space becomes available and the steps needed before someone returns.

Confirm the starting condition after release
Use an initial room list and photographs to open the discussion, then assess the accessible surfaces. Establish whether furniture, curtains and wall fittings are staying. Repairs or a delayed key handover can change the sequence, so make clear which assumptions need confirmation before the programme is agreed.
Break the interval into activities
Allow separately for clearance, repairs, preparation, painting, drying, cleaning and reinstatement. Use the selected products' instructions when planning the return to use. For a guest room, include housekeeping and the operator's acceptance; for a tenancy, coordinate the inventory and next key handover.
Assess a targeted repaint on its merits
A limited scope can be sensible where the remaining decoration is sound, but the edge between old and new work needs consideration. View colour and sheen together, especially on a long wall or in strong window light. Decide which complete surfaces to include so the finished room has an intentional appearance.
Protect occupation elsewhere in the building
Other flats or guest rooms may still be in use. Agree how the work is reached and how noise, deliveries and the shared route are managed. An operator's booking pattern does not override RBKC's noisy-work controls or the building's own arrangements, so check both before relying on an evening or weekend slot.

Keep the handover specific
Check the agreed rooms and surfaces, identify any remaining item and retain the finish references. Confirm reinstatement and the route for returning keys with the person who gave the instruction. No fixed turnaround is promised from room count alone; the programme follows the assessed work and access.
Arrange an Earl's Court repaint
A room, a staircase,
a whole elevation.
Start with the part of the property you want to change. Add who occupies it, when it can be released and whether a managing agent or freeholder needs to approve the work.
