Earl's Court Painters & Decorators
Communal halls & stairs
A shared staircase is an everyday route through several homes. Its decoration calls for a clear instruction from the building's representative and a practical arrangement for the residents who will continue to pass through it.
Discuss your project
Turn the common parts into a defined schedule
Walk the route from the front entrance to the highest landing and identify every included surface. Distinguish walls and ceilings from handrails, balusters, skirting and doors. Confirm responsibility for flat entrance doors and private thresholds before the specification is circulated for approval.
Choose a scheme that works through the whole stair
Test the proposed colour at the entrance and on a landing with different light. Look at its relationship with retained tiles, carpet and timber. For a residents' association or freeholder, a single recorded sample and named approving representative can give the commission a clear decision point.
Coordinate resident access at each stage
Agree notices, delivery arrangements and the periods when particular painted surfaces must be avoided. Explain how people will pass the working area and how the route will be left at the end of the day. Storage, coverings and equipment must be considered alongside the building's escape arrangements.
Keep repairs and decoration accountable
A water mark, moving crack or damaged stair component should be recorded for the relevant investigation. Decide who can authorise additional work and how it will be priced before the programme proceeds. The repaint schedule can then be reviewed against an agreed scope, with colour and product references retained for later maintenance.
Arrange an Earl's Court repaint
A room, a staircase,
a whole elevation.
Start with the part of the property you want to change. Add who occupies it, when it can be released and whether a managing agent or freeholder needs to approve the work.
